RE News from Your REC

A Big Thank You

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the people at All Souls who have made me feel so welcome. It has been an honor to work with you and the children here at All Souls, and I’m fortunate to have so many people willing to give their time and talents.

A New Way to Communicate

In the very near future, a new RE newsletter will be going out to all parents on a monthly basis. We are looking for a name for this newsletter, and who better to pick a name than the kids in RE? I will be passing out entry forms for the next 2 Sundays, and each child is welcome to enter a name. (You can also e-mail me an entry at lynnshack@comcast.net) The entries will be narrowed down to three, and then everyone in RE will vote for the winner. I have special prizes for the final three. All grade levels are encouraged to put their thinking caps on and come up with a name.

Speaking of the newsletter, we will still be putting pertinent information in the Weekly Expression, so don’t worry. The newsletter will be just another way of communicating! Kids are encouraged to contribute pictures, poems, articles, etc. to the newsletter – this is for them too! There will be a section for middle school and high school news, and the Youth Roots as well.

But Until Then….

Here is what is coming up for RE:

February 8th is Lincoln Sunday. All of the preschool through 6th graders will have regular class, but 7th grade and up will be in the service. Please contact me if you have any questions.

February 15th is Darwin Sunday. We are trying to get a special program for that day – stay tuned.

February 22nd is a special day as well for RE. We have a SLEDDING TRIP planned. We will be meeting at ASCC, and then proceed to Manhattan Park for a morning of sledding fun. Please e-mail me (lynnshack@comcast.net) if you are able to help the sledders!

Youth News

The high school youth will be volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on the following dates:

   February 21st    March 21st    April 18th

Any youth who would like to participate should contact Brittina DeHaan or Cindy Coleman. Each date starts at 10 am. On February 21st and April 18th, the youth will be bringing sack lunches for the Habitat crew. The youth will be fundraising for this endeavor on February 8th by having a bake sale at church. The sale starts at 9:30 and goes until 12:30. Please plan on buying a yummy snack and support our youth’s community service!

Thanks again for all that you do!
