On September 27, 2009, a Question and Answer period was held. Moderators were Rev Dr. Brent Smith, Roger Gilles, Chairperson of the Ministerial Search committee, and Dan Stegink, Board of Trustees.

The following questions, and responses were given.

Question Answer/Response
What is next? Brent's response was that he can respond to what is next for him, but not for the church. Brent emphasized that he is contracted through July 2010 and is committed to fulfilling that contract. What is next for him is as yet undetermined. He does not have a calling right now.

What is next for the church is that the Board of Trustees has communicated to the Ministerial Search Committee to continue the search process to call a called minister.

As a community we can also understand that there is a feeling of sadness, and we certainly acknowledge that. However, there will be a time whereby we need to transition from saying goodbye to Brent, and being ready and able to welcome a new called minister. Take some time to reflect on what has transpired, but also prepare yourself to move forward.

How do we respond? Dan mentioned that there are 3 things we can do now:

1. Be Here - be here on Sunday. To understand, to know, to stay informed of the process. To listen to familiar words in a new way, and to hear a message that we have been given the opportunity to hear in a urgent and transpiring way.

2. Be generous - in your patience, wisdom and your gifts. Our church has not entered a search process like this before. Patience on your part is essential as we go through this period.

3. Participate! - be a part of this community and immerse yourself in it! Volunteer for the Religious Education program! Get involved in something that you are passionate and connected with. There are so many opportunities for you. Participate in the Annual Budget Drive, attend your Pledge Party, and respond.
